1. Why is the people who gives the help better than the
people who takes it? I mean aren't we all in the same
racket? Just a thought.
2. I get depressed and they say I'm sick. But how can you
be happy when you really see the world how it is? I think
the people who are happy all the time are the sick ones.
3. People say I should be ashamed for taking handouts. You
really think your taxes paid for all the roads you drive
on, for all the doctors who taken care of you, for the
school you went too? No, your taxes hardly pay for nothing
so most of what you take is also a handout. I heard they
could stop taken peoples taxes and the government still
makes enough money to keep going from selling our resources
and other stuff. I have a right to that money just like
you. Infact you probably cost this country more than you
ever paid with all your garbage you produce and all the
services you take from the government. An indian told me I
lives lightly on the land. Too bloody right I do. I take a
lot less than you. Sorry, it just makes me mad, people
really don't see what's really going on.
3. When you see guys like me sleeping on the street. It's
not always cuz we're wasted. It's cause there are all kinds
of freeks in the shelters and you got to keep awake or
they'll steal your stuff or try the funny business with
you. So we sleep during the day when its safer.
4. I'd like to live off the land, but my parents didn't
teach me how, neither did the schools, so I was sort of
stuck with living in the city. In the city, everything's
already owned and they have police to kick you off of
everywhere. So you either have to live the way the people
who own the city want you to, or you might as well die. I
think people are all slaves in the city. Slaves in a golden
cage for sure, but still slaves. They have to do what the
"masters" say if you want to live here. That's why I think
we're all beggars. Every one holds their hat out to someone
else for their living even though they pretend they're
earning it.
5. People ask me why I believe in God when my life is shit.
I say we all gotta believe in something. I guess cause I
don't feel so alone with him. And I know he's got me out of
some bad shit too.
6. I think street people are the only ones who really live
in this city. Everyone else is just passin through.
7. Some people never look you in the eye. I think it's
cause they're embarrassed or scared. Scared they could end
up like me, maybe?
8. You put enough cream and sugar in coffee and you can
live on it.
9. And some more about God. Some people say, well what has
he ever done for you? I say it's the things you don't know
about you should be thankful for. Maybe you was going to
get cancer and he stopped it, maybe you was going to be hit
by a car and he swerved it over, maybe some guy was going
to knife you in a alley and he made you go another
direction. See, it's the things you don't even know he did
you should be most thankfull for.
